
PIEP Masbate Chapter: A Milestone Achievement
The Philippine Institute of Environmental Planners (PIEP) reached another significant milestone as it approved the petition for provisional chapter status of PIEP Masbate Chapter through National Board Resolution 02-004, Series of 2023.
On March 27, 2023, PIEP Masbate Chapter, consisting of thirty-two (32) founding members, held its momentous first General Membership Meeting, Election, and Induction of Officers. The event commenced with an Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) session focused on the Masbate Gold Project in Aroroy town, Masbate, jointly operated by Filminera Resources Corporation (FRC) and Philippine Gold Processing and Refining Corporation (PGPRC). The IEC session included a comprehensive tour of the mining site, where FRC and PGPRC elaborated on their mining operations, forest rehabilitation programs, and corporate social responsibility initiatives.
Later in the afternoon, PIEP Masbate Chapter conducted its first order of business – the General Membership Meeting (GMM), Election, and Induction of Officers at Villa Candelaria Resort in Aroroy, Masbate. During the GMM, EnP Adolfo V. Encila Jr., Vice-President for International Cluster, presented the State of Professional Practice, while EnP Ana Marie Abante, Vice-President for Luzon Cluster, shared the results of the National Board’s SWOT analysis. EnP Maria Ana Pulido, National President of PIEP, presented insights on Exploring Pathways for Transformational Change, along with updates from the national level. Jaspher Aguilar, the General Manager, provided administrative updates from the National Secretariat.
EnP Gerry Guadayo, who also served as the Interim President, was elected as the Founding President of the PIEP Masbate Chapter. The elected chapter officers took their oath before EnP Maria Ana M. Pulido, the National President of PIEP. Hon. Arturo B. Virtucio, Mayor of Aroroy, Masbate, graced the Induction and Oathtaking of Officers and highlighted the achievements of Aroroy town through the office of the Municipal Planning and Development headed by EnP Arthur Merico. The historic event for PIEP Masbate concluded with the distribution of Certificates of Membership from President Pulido and Certificates of Participation from the chapter.
