
PIEP Qatar Chapter Strengthens Commitment and Leadership through Ceremonial Induction and GMM
The Philippine Institute of Environmental Planners Qatar Chapter demonstrated their dedication to advancing the profession by electing their new Board of Directors for the fiscal year 2023-2024.
The chapter’s First General Membership Meeting (GMM) and Oath-Taking Ceremony, held at the prestigious Crowne Plaza Doha – The Business Park on February 17, marked the official induction of the newly elected officers.
EnP Maria Ana M. Pulido, the esteemed National President of the Philippine Institute of Environmental Planners, Inc., led the Oath-Taking Ceremony. The event was attended by both online and on-site participants, creating a unified atmosphere as the chapter embraced its new leadership. The theme of the event, “Building a Solid Foundation Towards Strong and Resilient Development Transformations,” resonated throughout the proceedings.
The GMM provided an opportunity for the members to enrich their leadership and communication skills through tailored workshops. Engr. Sherwin Olimpo, a mechanical engineer and QA/QC Manager, delivered a workshop on “A Refresher on Robert’s Rules of Parliamentary Procedures.” This session aimed to reinforce the members’ understanding of effective meeting protocols and decision-making processes. Distinguished Toastmaster Joseph Amande, a certified corporate trainer and professional speaker, then conducted a workshop on “Enhancing Communication Skills: Presenting with Confidence.” This interactive session empowered the attendees to effectively communicate their ideas and projects with clarity and conviction.
During the General Membership Meeting, EnP Leo Ortega, the newly inducted Chapter President, unveiled the comprehensive Chapter Plans & Programs for the Fiscal Year 2023-2024. This strategic roadmap outlined the chapter’s goals and initiatives for the coming year, emphasizing the importance of fostering professional growth, promoting sustainable development practices, and engaging with the local community. The Chapter Treasurer also presented the Financial Report, demonstrating the chapter’s commitment to transparency and sound financial management.
Furthermore, the meeting introduced the Standing and Special Committees, comprising dedicated members who will collaborate to execute various projects and initiatives. Noteworthy proposals were put forward during the meeting, including the implementation of Robert’s Rules and the appointment of a parliamentarian for every gathering. Additionally, the possibility of tapping into online Master’s Degree programs through a dedicated committee was discussed, along with the importance of setting a deadline for the Annual Dues to ensure the chapter’s sustainable funding.
