
PIEP’s Pre-NatCon Technical Conference Ignites Innovative Thinking in Environmental Planning
The Philippine Institute of Environmental Planners, Inc. (PIEP) proudly concluded its highly anticipated 2023 Pre-NatCon Technical Conference held at the prestigious SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
The conference served as a stimulating platform for environmental planners and professionals to delve into the theme of “Innovating Transportation Infrastructure While Exploring Pathways for Sustainable Development.”
Renowned speakers from various fields shared their expertise and insights, captivating the audience with thought-provoking presentations. Atty/EnP Saviniano Perez, Jr., a distinguished Fellow of PIEP, delivered an impactful talk on “The Transportation Policy Framework: Recommendations for Transportation Infrastructure Innovation in the Philippines.” His expertise shed light on essential aspects of transportation planning, providing a roadmap for sustainable and efficient mobility solutions.
Power couple Arch/EnP Pedro Raralio, Jr., fpiep, and Dr/EnP Encarnacion Raralio, fpiep, showcased their extensive knowledge in urban design and planning through their presentation entitled “Towards Transit-Oriented Development Standards.” Their comprehensive analysis and strategic recommendations emphasized the importance of integrating transit systems with urban development to create livable and sustainable communities.
The conference also welcomed Engr. Reynaldo Perez-Ramos, PhD, EnP, the esteemed President of Technological University of the Philippines. Engr. Perez-Ramos shared valuable insights on “The Role of the Education Sector in Transportation Infrastructure Innovation: A Case of TUP as a Higher Education Institution in the Philippines.” His presentation highlighted the pivotal role of educational institutions in shaping the future of transportation planning and infrastructure.
To provide a glimpse into real-world projects, Arch/EnP Felino “Jun” Palafox, Jr., Principal Architect of Palafox Associates, engaged the audience with an animated video presentation. He showcased the firm’s ongoing development projects in Clark, Pampanga, Davao, and Ilocos Norte, illustrating how innovative design and planning can create sustainable and resilient urban environments.
